How OpenBook Local Makes Money
Businesses can pay for a better-presented profile and we may be paid for requests you send. Here's exactly what that buys, and what it can't.
Section 1Where our money comes from
| Source | What the business gets | Labelled as |
|---|---|---|
| Enhanced profiles | More photos, a contact form, a logo, view statistics | Enhanced profile (paid) |
| Requests | Your request, when you choose to send it to them; we may be paid per request | Stated under every form |
| Sponsored placements | A separate box outside the comparison | Sponsored |
Section 2What money never changes
- The order of any table (it's alphabetical)
- Any accurate negative fact
- Any Not provided label, which only goes when the business supplies the information
Questions about money
Can a business pay to remove Not provided?
No. The label only goes when the business supplies the information. Payment buys presentation, never a change to a field.
Why are you paid when I send a request?
Some businesses pay a fee for each request they receive through our form. You choose who gets it, and the fee never changes a sheet or the order of a report.
How do I spot a paid profile?
It carries the label Enhanced profile (paid) everywhere it appears. Sponsored placements are boxed and labelled outside the comparison.
